Reiki Helps to Manage Grief

I was touched to receive this last week from J.A.

When I received it I was so glad to read that J.A.’s friend and sister felt better after receiving Reiki, that J.A. was reconnected to her Reiki practice, and the treatments she provided to support her friend deepened their relationship. Enjoy the read…

Reiki and griefHi Sarah. I just wanted to drop you a line.  It’s been a while since my sister and I did Reiki Level One and Reiki Level Two and I have to say I haven’t been practicing much.

Last year I went to stay with my sister. I  gave her Reiki treatments over four days because she was unwell and struggling.  She said that Reiki helped her.  So all good.

I hadn’t practiced again until last Saturday.  It was such an amazing experience that I wanted to share it with you:

My friend lost her 36 year old daughter to cancer nearly 2 years ago and has been struggling with grief ever since. I met with her for coffee a week back and she opened up to me.  I suggested we do a Reiki session.  She agreed and we organised a session for the following Saturday.

I read my Reiki Level One and Two manuals and treated her with an open mind.

My friend had never experienced Reiki before so I let her know that she may experience sensations of heat and tingling, that she may feel emotional, or she may feel nothing but nonetheless Reiki would work.

I proceeded with the Reiki session and started to experience intense sensations so I opened my eyes as per your instruction and I the intense sensations stopped. I was absolutely fine.

When I moved over her heart area I felt her sadness. I realised my friend was living with this sadness everyday.

I continued a full treatment by moving my hands to different areas on her body like we were taught in class. When I finished the Reiki treatment I let her know she could get up.

She turned over and she had tears streaming down her face.  We then hugged it out for many minutes. I too had tears.

Afterwards we had a bit of a chat and a cuppa and I asked if she wanted another session next week and we booked one in.

She texted me on Sunday and advised that she “felt exhausted afterwards but at peace and that’s carried through to today”.

The experience gave me such a respect for Reiki energy and the gentle healing power it contains. This Reiki session really amazed me and reawakened my interest in the power of Reiki. I really trust in the power of Reiki to deliver what is needed.

Thank you for teaching and sharing it with me. You’ll be happy to know that I’m supporting my friend with further Reiki treatments as she needs them.
