Do you want to increase your energy levels and feel better?

Do you wake up feeling tired? Do you experience an afternoon energy slump? Or are you spending more time on the weekend re-cooping from work rather than enjoying yourself?

Reiki, energy levelsThere’s a simple way to increase and maintain your energy levels so feel better. You can receive Reiki treatment or learn how to practise Reiki on yourself.

But, let’s first let’s determine…

What is energy?

According to The Oxford Dictionary energy is: “the strength, effort, and enthusiasm required for physical or mental activity, your work, e.t.c.”.  Your energy levels fluctuate. Some factors that influence your energy levels are:

  • hormonal changes,
  • work and relationship stress,
  • your overall health
  • family commitments

The good news is that receiving Reiki treatment, or learning how to practice Reiki on yourself, improves or maintains your energy levels. But how does Reiki do this?

Five ways Reiki maintains or improves your energy levels:

1. Reiki improves your energy by deepening your sleep

Do you wake up each day refreshed? If not, don’t worry. It’s common to be tired, have a foggy mind and notice it’s a challenge to get going in the morning. This is normal if you’re caregiving or are staying up late. But, if you aren’t, waking up tired over an extended period of time can be a symptom of burnout.

According to the Oxford Dictionary burnout is: “A complex psychophysiological syndrome characterized by feelings of anxiety, tension, mental fatigue, physical exhaustion…it appears as a result of chronic stress.”

Fortunately, as well as these complaints, it is just as common for me to hear:

  • “I slept so well after my Reiki treatment” or
  • “My sleep has improved since I learnt how to practice Reiki on myself”.

Please don’t take my word for it. Check-in with yourself after you receive Reiki treatment or practise self-Reiki. Do you sleep better?

A study was conducted that found that nursing staff who received weekly Reiki treatment experienced better sleep. They:

  • fell asleep quicker,
  • slept for longer and
  • experienced fewer nightmares.

This is because Reiki is healing and relaxes your central nervous system, promoting deeper, longer sleep. During your Reiki treatment, we work together on other ways to improve your sleep so you wake up feeling refreshed and clear-headed.

2. Reiki improves your energy by reinforcing your boundaries

Are you a giving person? Perhaps you manage others, have children or are looking after your parents. Do you often place the needs of others above your own? If you’re a natural giver you can experience burnout due to over-committing to work, friends or family.

There are a few reasons why this pattern emerges, childhood experiences and cultural conditioning play a part, or you may be very kind by nature. It’s a beautiful way of being but if you often find yourself:

  • saying “yes” when you really mean “no”?
  • overworking when your manager and colleagues have left the project
  • experiencing significant tiredness after you spend time with friends and family

then you may want to reassess your boundaries. This will avoid you burning out, feeling anxious, and resenting people around you. Reiki connects you deeply with yourself. When you’re grounded (connected to yourself and in your body) you’re able to create better boundaries that effectively meet your needs and the needs of your colleagues, family and friends.

3. Reiki increases your energy so you make better choices

I recently supported a woman and I want to share her journey with you because it directly relates to how Reiki helps to increase energy levels. Let’s name her “Sophie”.

Sophie came for treatment because she was depleted from work. She was managing a team in an unsupportive environment and was experiencing anxiety and low energy. Sophie had been in the role for 5 years and wanted to change jobs because she was overworked and her values didn’t align with the values of the company she was working for.

Sophie felt better after her first Reiki treatment. She then received a series of Reiki treatments. As a result of these treatments, Sophie experienced a deeper connection to herself and gained an understanding of what steps she needed to take to gain balance and achieve her goals.

How did Sophie get there? First, she sought support with Reiki treatment. When she was emotionally balanced and energised Sophie:

  • became clear on what she wanted
  • took action to realise her goals and
  • created time to rest and rejuvenate

Sophie and I discussed the impact that Reiki treatment had during this process. We agreed that due to the support she received during her Reiki treatments, she was able to reach a level of emotional balance and have the energy and capacity to move forward with her goals. I’m delighted to let you know that Sophie found a new role that’s more supportive and the company’s values resonate with hers. And, she’s also recently become engaged to her long-term partner.

4. Reiki replenishes your vital energy

Have you received a Reiki treatment and felt tired afterwards? Or perhaps you’ve learnt Reiki and needed more rest after the course. This is common and ultimately beneficial. It’s part of a rebalancing process. There are a few reasons why the rebalancing process occurs, here are three:

  • you rely heavily on caffeine to get through your day
  • you are consistently on the go with little time for rest
  • you need to work long hours

If you experience the rebalancing process you could be using too much of your vital energy. Your vital energy is a little different from your everyday energy. It’s the deep foundational energy reserves of your body. It takes a while to deplete this energy reserve and also takes a while to rebuild it. When it’s low it’s termed ki (energy) deficiency which presents in a range of health conditions including chronic fatigue.

With regular Reiki treatment and lifestyle guidance, and ongoing self-Reiki practice your vital energy (ki) is nourished so you have more energy to do the things you love and spend time with the people you care for.

5. Reiki improves your energy by changing your thinking

Have you noticed that negative thinking makes you feel tired and positive or realistic thinking has the opposite effect?

One of the primary benefits of receiving Reiki or practising self-Reiki is experiencing a relaxation response. When your central nervous system relaxes you think differently. Rather than your mind focusing on problems you:

The shift in thinking that Reiki treatment creates isn’t to be confused with “positive thinking”. It can be counterproductive to “just think positively” about a challenge you’re facing. Instead, Reiki meets you exactly where you are, and then creates a space for healing to take place. When your central nervous system relaxes there’s an effortless shift in your thinking. You can experience this during your Reiki treatment or after your Reiki treatment. You become less worried and more action and or acceptance oriented.

If you want to maintain or increase your energy levels make time to can work together or you can learn how to practise Reiki on yourself.

Please note – Reiki complements other support you’re receiving, it doesn’t necessarily replace it.
