Five simple ways to infuse spirituality into your daily life so you feel better and improve your health and wellness

Five ways to infuse spirituality into your life so you feel better:
1. Spend time in nature
Like Reiki, nature is healing. Creating time each week to sit in local parkland, absorbing the surrounding environment, or participating in physical activities such as cycling, rock climbing, walking and running are just a few ways to benefit from the therapeutic qualities of nature. A pilot study showed that like Reiki, spending time outside in nature reduces:
– cortisol levels (the stress hormone),
– muscle tension and
– blood pressure.
2. Connect to community
If you’ve learnt Reiki you’ve been given the tools to benefit from a self-Reiki practise. Unless you’re attending a Reiki practise group, self-Reiki practise is mostly done solo. The spiritual path and spiritual practice can be a solo journey but it doesn’t have to be. Another way to infuse spirituality into your daily life is through your relationship with others. When we interact with others we have an opportunity to expand our hearts and minds. What’s more, studies show that connecting with others in a supportive community setting has a positive effect on our mental health and wellness.
3. Create non-doing time
Our lives can be busy with increasing work and social demands. Creating regular non-doing time is essential for maintaining your holistic health. It can be another way to infuse spirituality into your daily life. Relaxing activities encourage the mind to slow down and the body to rest. Studies indicate that relaxing the mind:
– improves heart function
– reduces perceived stressors
– benefits overall health.
4. Practise the Reiki principles
Whether you’ve learnt Reiki or not practising the Reiki principles is another way to infuse spirituality into your daily life. Opportunities arise each day to practice these simple guidelines that promote a happier, healthier life. When you read the Reiki principles you’ll notice that some are easier to implement than others. Again, research indicates that practising gratitude and kindness promotes better health and wellbeing.
5. Be present
Are you often thinking about the past or focusing on what could happen in the future? How can you be more present in the here and now? Receiving and practising Reiki grounds you in the present moment and connects you to your body. Some mindfulness practices also include ways of returning to the present moment through your body. To improve your health and wellness and infuse spirituality into your daily life check-in and ask yourself:
– What do your feet feel like connected to the ground beneath you?
– How do your sitting bones feel connected to the seat beneath you?
– What does the surface beneath your fingers feel like to touch?
Again, research indicates that mindfulness-based practises are valid resources that help to reduce pain and depression.
The above suggestions are accessible and simple ways to infuse spirituality into your everyday life to promote your optimum health and wellness.
